FY27 budget

Urged amending the FY27 budget for reduced reserves, questioned ballooning project costs, and asked for a grant performance review.

Opposed funding for The Spot, Throne restrooms, the volunteer fire department, and the immigrant relief fund; criticized rising tax bills; and questioned why the UTC bond refunding item wasn't disclosed to the public sooner.

Praised staff's work shrinking the budget deficit (noting about $1.8 million remains), thanked the city for catching up on minutes, and suggested the city fund Bike to Work Day in future budgets.

Opposed the tax increase and asked the council to strip funding for 'The Spot,' the immigrant relief fund, Throne portable bathrooms, and the volunteer fire department; also questioned city-funded refreshments for World Cup watch parties.

Criticized the city's budget track record and proposed property tax increases, and said Riverfront at West Hyattsville residents have paid full taxes for six years while getting no city street services.

Raised concerns about the current budget and asked the council not to pass a future budget showing a funding deficit.
